COMPOSITION

Vial containing freeze-dried powder: ceftiofur sodium 4376 mg equivalent to ceftiofur 4200 mg. Vial with solvent: sterile water for injection 80 ml. 1 ml of reconstituted solution contains ceftiofur 50 mg.

PROPERTIES

Wondercef sterile powder contains ceftiofur sodium, a broad spectrum third generation cephalosporin which is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including ß-lactamase producing strains and anaerobes. Its antibacterial activity results from the inhibition of mucopeptide synthesis in the bacterial cell wall similar to other cephalosporins.
After intramuscular administration it reaches therapeutic blood concentrations within minutes and is quickly metabolized to desfuroylceftiofur, which has an antimicrobial activity identical to that of ceftiofur.
Wondercef has excellent injection-site tolerance and produces minimal impact on dairy farm production, as there is no withdrawal time for milk.

INDICATIONS

Wondercef is indicated for treatment of bovine bacterial respiratory disease associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) somnus and other sensitive bacterial pathogens. For the treatment of cattle with acute interdigital necrobacillosis (foul in the foot) in which Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus are involved.
The treatment of pigs with bacterial respiratory disease in which Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumonia, Pasteurella multocida and Streptococcus suis are involved.
For the treatment of horses with bacterial respiratory disease associated with Streptococcus spp. (including Streptococcus zooepidemicus), Staphylococcus spp. and/or Pasteurella spp.
