PROPERTIES
The active ingredients of Metamerazina are sulfonamides the spectra of action of which are quite broad and which include most pathogenic bacterial species.
Their action is bacteriostatic and, as opposed to many antibiotics, these sulfonamides are also endowed with anticoccidial action.
Metamerazina, as an association of three sulphonamides, is such that the dosages of each sulfonamide may be reduced while enhancement of therapeutic action is obtained. Renal toxicity and allergic sensitization are thus reduced significantly.
The optimal association of the three active substances permits an action which is rapid and, at the same time, of long persistence: sulfathiazole for the first 2-4 hours, sulfamethazine 7-8 hours, sulfamerazine 18-24 hours.
