PROPERTIES
Oxytetracycline is an antibiotic endowed with a very broad spectrum of action.
It is indicated for many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial infections and spirochetal, chlamydial, rickettsial and mycoplasmal diseases. The administration (intramuscular or intravenous route) of the recommended dosages allows to obtain in a very short time (immediately, in case of intravenous injection) therapeutic blood concentrations that persist until 24 hours.
It is thus possible with a daily injection to keep under control the bacterial infection.
The low toxicity and the reduced tendency to determine phenomena of sensitization as compared to other antibiotics, allow to consider oxytetracycline as one of the safest antibiotics.
The vehicle permits a better local tolerance and reduce painful in the injection site.
