PROPERTIES
The mechanism of action of Valemas 5 is exerted through intranuclear inhibition of DNA gyrase. In this way, all the vital functions of the microorganism are blocked and the bactericidal effect is rapid. The antibacterial spectrum of enrofloxacin extends not only to Gram-negative microorganisms (such as E. coli, Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Haemophilus spp. and Pseudomonas spp.) but also includes Gram-positive microorganisms (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp. and Clostridium spp.) and particularly the mycoplasmas typical of all domestic species (Mycoplasma gallisepticum, M. synoviae, M. bovis, M.hyopneumoniae, M. hyorhinis, M. hyosynoviae, M. meleagridis, M. iowae and Ureaplasma). Given its particular mechanism of action, enrofloxacin is also efficacious against mycoplasmas multiresistant to beta-lactams, tetracyclines, aminoglycosides and to macrolides (which act through other mechanisms of action). Enrofloxacin is characterized by a marked distribution throughout the animal organism and excellent tissue penetration.
