COMPOSITION
1 g contains gentamicin sulphate equivalent to gentamicin 200 mg.

PROPERTIES
Ganaben S.P. is an aminoglycoside antibiotic which is particularly active against Gram-negative and some Gram-positive bacteria: E. Coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Shigella spp., staphylococci and streptococci.
It is also active against Campylobacter jejuni and Brachyspira (Treponema) hyodysenteriae.
It has a rapid bactericidal action, acting directly on ribosomal subunit 30s, with inhibition of protein synthesis.
Administered by the oral route, gentamicin reaches high intestinal concentrations owing to its very limited systemic absorption.
This also permits a reduction in possible toxic effects to kidneys and ears. Ganaben S.P. rapidly reduces the intestinal bacterial load and thus environmental contamination, a decisive factor for persistence of the pathology in a rearing establishment. The antibiotic may also be active against microorganisms resistant to other amino-glycosides.
INDICATIONS
Ganaben S.P. is indicated in treatment of bacterial infections which affect the digestive system, due to pathogenic agents sensitive to the active substance.
In particular: enteritis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis and hemorrhagic enteritis.
ADMINISTRATION
Oral.
DOSAGE
If suckling piglets should be affected, it is recommended that all subjects in the affected litter be treated.
For administration, it is useful to prepare a solution, mixing the recommended posology of Ganaben S.P. in 5-10 litres of water until complete dispersion.
Subsequently, incorporate the solution thus obtained in the quantity of water necessary for normal drinking.
