PROPERTIES
Vetamplius Swine is a veterinary medicinal product based on ampicillin, a semi-synthetic, acid-resistant penicillin, which sodium salt is highly soluble in water. Ampicillin exerts bactericidal activity toward actively multiplying microorganisms by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, thereby determining lysis and rapid death of bacteria. It is active against all Gram-positive bacteria (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Arcanobacterium pyogenes, Corynebacterium spp., Clostridium spp., Fusiformis spp., etc.), some Gram-negative bacteria (Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., E. Coli, Haemophilus spp., Brucella spp.) and spirochaetes. Following oral administration, ampicillin is rapidly absorbed and tends to become concentrated in certain tissues, showing a notable tropism for the respiratory tract, the liver, the intestine, the skin and the kidneys, through which it is eliminated, mainly in unmodified form.
INDICATIONS
Vetamplius Swine is indicated for all infections ascribed to Gram-positive and Gram-negative micro-organism sensitive to ampicillin. E. Coli infections, salmonellosis, enteritis caused by Clostridium spp., pasteurellosis, streptococcosis, pleuropneumonia (caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae), staphylococcosis, erysipelas, dermatitis, secondary bacterial infections following viral and parasitic diseases.
