PROPERTIES
Konclav contains amoxicillin and clavulanic acid.
This association has a very wide spectrum of action and is effective even against ß-lactamase-producing bacteria.
Amoxicillin is a bactericidal broad-spectrum antibiotic, belonging to ß-lactam antibiotics.
It is a semisynthetic penicillin, sensitive to the action of penicillinase.
It acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis causing an alteration in osmotic balance that leads to the destruction of the bacteria in the growth phase.
It is active against numerous Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms.
Clavulanic acid inactivates progressively and irreversibly the bacterial ß-lactamase enzymes, forming a stable complex that prevents ß-lactamase to destroy the molecules of amoxicillin.
INDICATIONS
Thanks to its wide spectrum, Konclav is effective against a wide range of bacteria, including:
Gram-positive: Actinomyces spp., Bacillus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Staphylococcus spp. (including ß-lactamase producing strains) and Streptococcus spp.
ADMINISTRATION
Oral.
DOSAGE
The recommended dose of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid is 12.5 mg / kg bw. (In association 4:1 equivalent to 10 mg of amoxicillin and 2.5 mg clavulanic acid/kg bw.) twice a day orally.
Konclav 40 mg + 10 mg: 1 tablet/4 kg bw twice a day.
Konclav 200 mg + 50 mg: 1 tablet/20 kg bw twice a day.
Konclav 400 mg + 100 mg: 1 tablet/40 kg bw twice a day.
Konclav tablets can be administered directly into the animal’s mouth or mixed with food.
